Sandbach Brownies recently enjoyed an exciting day at Petty Pool Outdoor Centre, near Northwich, Cheshire, thanks to the Rotary Club of Sandbach and a District Simplified grant. Their leader, Brown Owl Joanne Stokes, had this to say.
We arrived at 10 am and were greeted by Jim Davey, the Centre Manager, and Jan, one of the instructors, who looked after us during the day. The girls had the opportunity to scale the 12-metre climbing wall and abseil back down; stack crates with the help of the other girls and then jump off; and to fire real arrows in an archery session. We also managed to squeeze in a picnic lunch.
The 20 girls learnt lots of new skills from facing their fear of heights, team building, trusting each other and trying something they have never had the opportunity to do. The day finished at 4pm with some very tired young ladies.
We really appreciated the day out; in these difficult times during lockdown, it gave us all some normality and it was just what the girls needed. As a leader it was lovely to see them all having a great time and laughing.
Thank you so much, Rotary, for the fantastic opportunity.
